ADITYA SRIVATSAN: FLAWLESS ON SAT
Testmasters Student Becomes the Latest to Capture the Magical 2400
HOUSTON, TX, August, 13, 2011 – Testmasters 2010 summer student Aditya Srivatsan became the latest in a recent string of perfect scoring Testmasters SAT students by scoring a 2400 on the June 2011 SAT. Srivatsan’s accomplishment placed him in the top percentile of SAT test takers nationwide and netted him recognition from Testmasters as well as a $1000 college scholarship. Srivatsan, who was in India for the Summer after taking the June exam, said his first feeling after seeing the news was one of relief and gratitude that his hard work had paid off.
“My Grandpa was the first person I told, and he was extremely proud of me,” said Srivatsan. “Then I called my Dad and Mom and logged into Gmail and told a few friends.”
“I was relieved to know I was done.”
Testmasters Courses Were Key
Srivatsan, a senior at Stephen F. Austin High School, heavily credited Testmasters courses for his accomplishment.
“I took Testmasters my junior year and I feel it was instrumental in me achieving a perfect score”, said Srivatsan. “I do not feel like I could have achieved a perfect score without both Testmasters and Exam Club.”
“Testmasters provided great tips for the writing section and essay and also had a great vocabulary list to study from online (the Big Word List). I felt like that list really did contain every word that appeared on the SAT.”
Secrets to Success
In preparing for his exam, Srivatsan put in plenty of hard work. When asked for advice he would offer other students, he suggested effort and also pointed out the best resources to use in tackling the exam.
“If you really want a great score, you are going to have to work very hard for it. But if you are willing to put in the work, it is very much possible,” he said. “Study lots of vocab. It is the best and easiest way to improve the reading section, which is the hardest for most people. And take lots and lots of practice tests. They are essential.”
“I went to Exam Club and took SATs every weekend and it was really useful.”
Looking Toward the Future
Srivatsan’s efforts in and out of school have largely revolved around music, medicine and academics. A violinist and percussionist, Srivatsan has regularly performed in locations including but not limited to Chicago, Boston and Austria, and has performed features on the Front Row segment of KUHF radio. He is also the Chair of the Greater Houston Red Cross Youth Service Council and regularly plays violin for patients in nursing homes and Memorial Hermann Hospital.
In the future, Srivatsan would like to study either Bioengineering or Chemical Engineering at Stanford University and is interested in a career as either a Doctor or working in a Biotech or pharmaceutical company scientist dedicated to researching new medicines and treatments. “I’d like to study research effects of music on the human brain and find ways in which music therapy can be used to treat neurological diseases such as Parkinson's, Stroke, and Aphasia.”
