Stephanie Su Receives $1000 TestMasters Scholarship For Perfect SAT Score
Then Hits the Lab to Research the Next Drug for Tuberculosis
DALLAS – July 20, 2010– Stephanie Su has become well known around the Denton suburb of Dallas for her perfect SAT score. However, her passion for biomedical drug discovery research may make her renowned around the world.
The Texas Academy of Math and Science senior will be using her $1000 TestMasters scholarship for her perfect SAT score to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology pursing a degree in Bioengineering. This summer, she got invited to kick off her career by spending the summer in the lab at Baylor University Center for Drug Discovery in Waco, Texas working on drug discovery research for Tuberculosis.
"I am working in the crystallography lab this summer working on finding an enzyme inhibitor for Tuberculosis,” she said. “I really enjoy it and ultimately I would love to teach."
Her ultimate dream is to be a professor of biology and conduct research as a member of the faculty at the University of Chicago.
“It would be exciting to teach there,” Su said.
She achieved her perfect score on the SAT through plenty of practice. Her toughest part was the critical reading section, however her practice of the thousands of words on the TestMasters vocabulary list helped her hit the perfect score.
“You really have to start preparing early for the test,” Su said. “TestMasters has the perfect material to get a high score on the exam. I also drank a cup of coffee to stay focused on the test day. Be also sure to dress comfortably, get a good night sleep and try not to be too stressed out.”
In her spare time, she likes to play clarinet in the marching band, play the piano and enjoys drawing.
“I really enjoy drawing people as a hobby,” Su said.
