The Math Level 2 Subject Test focuses on more advanced material covered in courses including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. According to the ETS, which writes the test, the following topics are covered on the test:
While the topics are the same as in the Level I Subject Test, the focus on the Level 2 Test is on advanced concepts within each of these topics. Additionally, there is a higher proportion of question on advanced topics in geometry and trigonometry (such as conic sections, trigonometric functions and graphs, and trigonometric identities).
We base our course materials on real exams, including unique strategies and tips to help you excel on test day. The manuals undergo a rigorous development process with multiple revisions to make sure Testmasters students receive a top-notch product. With hundreds of pages filled with sample questions and detailed explanations, the custom-designed manual forms the foundation for the Testmasters SAT Subject Test in Math Level 2 course from which our teachers draw out ideas to help students masters the skills necessary to ace the Math Level 2 SAT Subject Test.
The most important factor in deciding between the two exams is college requirements. Some colleges will require that students take the Math II exam; others will not specify.
Students who have taken (and done well in) a pre-calculus/trigonometry course are qualified to take the Math Level 2 Subject Test. Those who are considering taking the Level I exam to score higher may want to think about which topics are fresher in their minds.
Students applying to disciplines that are more scientifically or mathematically oriented may also want to strongly consider taking the Math Level 2 Exam as well in order to demonstrate proficiency with higher-level mathematics.
