Washington has one of the country's densest collections of independent schools, including Sidwell Friends, Maret, and Georgetown Day School, and families applying for fifth or sixth grade may take the ISEE Lower Level. For a nine- or ten-year-old, the test is long and new: verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, reading, math achievement, and a short essay. Test Masters teaches the Lower Level live online to students from the District, Chevy Chase, Bethesda, and McLean in short, encouraging lessons, with vocabulary in small doses and math explained step by step. Private 1-on-1 tutoring is available, and parents receive progress reports. With patient practice, your child can take the ISEE as its master.
