Sharonya Shetty Clobbers SAT, receives Perfect Score of 2400
HOUSTON, TX (April 22, 2016) Sharonya Shetty, a junior at Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions, achieved a perfect score of 2400 on the January 2016 SAT exam. Shetty’s score places her in the top 1% of SAT test takers world-wide. With this score, Shetty joins a historically impressive number of Testmasters students to achieve a perfect score on either the SAT or ACT.
When deciding how to best prepare for this college entrance exam, Shetty chose to attend Testmasters “because I felt I needed some direction if I wanted to study for the SAT. I didn’t really know that much about the SAT, so I felt I would get the best direction from a course that taught me what exactly I needed to know and focused on the main points.”
However, Shetty says she was surprised at how enjoyable her class ended up being. “I loved the teachers at Testmasters because they made it so much fun to learn the topics,” Shetty said. “They made you realize how relaxed the test was. I didn’t feel like I was doing hard work to get a good score; I felt like I was learning while having fun at the same time. Having pizza every Sunday was also a pretty good bonus!”
With her perfect score, Shetty has demonstrated a clear mastery of the SAT, but she has other interests and hobbies as well, primarily reading and dancing. “I do Indian classical dancing and Indian Bollywood dancing, and I love to read basically anything, but mainly historical fictions and mysteries.” In particular, Shetty is a fan of Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter and says “I would love to go to London because it would be amazing to actually see the locations where the stories took place.”
For students preparing for future exams, Shetty advises keeping a calm and clear mind. “I would tell students preparing for the SAT not to stress too much because it doesn’t help at all,” she said. “They need to know that all the knowledge they need, they already have, and all they need to do is concentrate on the test. In the end, it’s a matter of having confidence in one’s abilities and maintaining concentration.”
In recognition of her accomplishment, Testmasters will award Sharonya a $1000 Perfect Score Scholarship.
