TestMasters ISEE Middle Level Classroom Course

Sixth and seventh graders reach the Middle Level ISEE with the arithmetic mostly in place and the algebra only half built, which is precisely where this exam applies pressure. The course spends its time on that seam: seven three-hour verbal and math sessions, a three-hour essay workshop, and four full-length practice exams.

Where the points are on this level

Mathematics Achievement asks 47 questions in 40 minutes and is the section students most often fail to finish. Quantitative Reasoning punishes the opposite instinct: solve each comparison the long way and the clock beats you, while a student who estimates moves on. We teach both behaviors deliberately, because knowing when not to calculate is worth as many points as knowing how to.

The four practice exams are taken in class on the clock and returned as a diagnostic by question type, so every student knows before the next session which ten minutes of study will actually pay.

What the course covers

  • Verbal Reasoning. Vocabulary built from Latin and Greek roots rather than memorized lists, so unfamiliar synonyms stay workable.
  • Reading Comprehension. Six passages at a sustainable pace, with a plan for the science passage that slows everyone down.
  • Algebra and geometry. Linear equations, exponents, angles, area and volume, rebuilt for speed as well as accuracy.
  • Quantitative comparison. A question type with no classroom equivalent, taught as its own skill.
  • Essay workshop. Three hours producing a structure the student can execute in thirty minutes on test day.

Materials

Students receive the Test Masters ISEE Middle Level manual at the second meeting and every lesson is taught from it, so notes, homework and review all live in one book.
